Another question we got here is:
You said your trash costs went down but have
your recycling costs gone up? Are you losing
money?
So this is a great question because as we know in
general recycling costs are going up and we
actually have pretty recently seen that to be the
case for us. Our trash costs have gone down
significantly and that has helped us a ton as well.
Because we're more of a manufacturing plant, we
do actually get a pretty high cost for recycling
some of our paper.
It still has a lot of value to it that has helped us
gain some money that way. And one of the big
costs we've noticed for recycling and trash in
general is just fuel cost. So we've really looked at
how can we reduce the frequency of those trucks
actually visiting our
facility.
So we switched from going from every week for
both trash and recycling to to every other week or
to once a month for recycling. So that's been a
little challenging on our end to make sure that we
can store those materials. But it's really helped
make sure that in general our zero waste program
is profitable.
