And then part of a bigger picture of why zero waste
is an important concept? It helps reduce our
dependence on raw material and reduces supply
risks, as well as extraction, transport, refining and
the landfilling of materials is a top-five source of
greenhouse gas emissions.
And again consumers and employees prefer
companies that are environmentally responsible,
and we've definitely seen that with new employees
at Posty Cards.
As well, closed loop economies create more jobs
than once-through economies. For every 10,000
tons of solid waste only one job is created.
Whereas with composting, recycling and reusing
more than 75 to 250 jobs can be created. As well,
our waste systems are unable to prevent pollution
of land and water.
So how do we as individuals
and employers make that
decision; and how can we,
you know, really redesign our
workplaces, our schools and
processes to make reducing,
reusing, and recycling the
easier option.
Why is Zero Waste Important?
