I would say right now we're about breaking
even but that's simply just looking at recycling
and trash or if you look at our whole zero
waste program and the efficiencies that it's
given us, it's helped us, for example, we no
longer get paper cut on a standard size. We
actually get paper custom measured and cut
for our greeting cards and their sizes. So we're
able to save tons of paper that way and
there's a huge environmental impact for that,
but it's also able to save a lot of money.
Another question is:
How do you track your recycling and trash
collection for your metrics?
For that question we also just have a very kind
of old-fashioned system, you might say. But we
actually have a scale next to our dock door
where we keep our trash and we've actually
worked very closely with our custodial team for
them to weigh everything before they take it
out. And so you know custodial can be a job
where there's a lot of turnover. So we just make
sure that they're doing it well from the
beginning and then just make sure that we
were continually training and making sure that
it's okay. But we've had a lot of success with
that; it's definitely a low-cost solution for that.
